We have to face facts that sewing and tailoring is a dying art in the US. And bring back manufacturing to the US requires a skilled workforce. Finding good reliable sewers and machine operators has been a challenge since we started the business. Hence, we decided to incorporate on-the-job training, starting with Veterans and growing to anyone else who wants to make a career in sewn goods manufacturing. Starting with easier projects, we have been able to train Veterans on how to operate specific machines, cutting fabric. Because we are more of a boutique style manufacturing operation, we have been able to train for less comprehensive projects (e.g. scarves, tote bags . . .)
We support our troops in whatever way we can and hire Veterans has been a tremendous experience and opportunity.
